On January 2, 2006 I had a privlage to Interview with Voice Actress Tara Platt.
When did you start acting?
-I started acting when I was 9. I did a community theatre play called Wait Until Dark as the little next door Gloria. I continuted to work in theatre throughout my teens and went to Rutgers University for a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) in Theatre. Then I started working in film and tv, and didn't get into voice acting until a few years ago.
How did you get fasinated by that made turn to voice acting?
-I have always loved acting, so a few years ago, I just decided that I wanted to work in animation, and started taking classes and auditioning until I finally booked my first role of Reina in Rave Master.
What's your favorite character you liked playing?
-Ooh, that's a tough one, I really like all the roles I have had the opportunity to play, each for their own reasons, but I am thourougly enjoying playing Temari on Naruto right now.
And I really to hate say this one but which character didn't you want to
play or don't like at all during you acting career?
-There really aren't any. I have enjoyed each character. Even the 'bad' ones, because they allow me to use my imagination and creativity to create them.
Now off topic with the thing.
According to your demo you were on the series "Charmed" well that's some of my family members favorite show can you give me the character's name and how was she like?
-I played the role of the Muse in a scene at the Magic Library. Ultimately the entire scene got cut because they merged two different episodes into one, and although fun, my section wasn't necessary for the plot, and got removed before airing. It was tons of fun to work on though.
You've been in theatre for a while so can you tell me which play you've been working on?
-I have worked on many classic plays (Shakespeare and Moliere) as well as many original shows and contemporary plays.
Now to the game show topic.
Yes I'm a game show fan, of course.
Question Tara, which game show (or shows) have you tried out for?
-The only game show that I ever tried out for was Lingo, and although I was on it, I wasn't very good....
What is your favorite game show?
-I have always thought that trivia shows are fun cause they make you think.
Which game shows did you watch (if any) you when you were younger?
-I grew up without a television, so I didn't watch any.
Well back to the life of Tara.
Now about the production company Monkey Kingdom Productions can you tell me about it?
-Yuri Lowenthal (my husband and business partner) and I created it so that we could produce our own films and work on projects that we create ourselves. We are currently in post production on our first feature film and working on several other scripts that we will narrow down to one to probably go into pre-production on in the next year.
Back to acting.
Do you get along with some of the voice actors around?
-Yeah, luckily it is a small and fairly close community so many of my friends are voice actors.
Sorry to write this but What's the most embarrasing thing happened to you during your acting career?
-Well, it is always hard to get fired, so the first time I was fired from a job, I took it pretty hard.
What's you best performance during the business, TV, Movie, or
Theatre?
-Well, one of my favorites has been playing Juliet in Romeo&Juliet directed by John deLancie at the Pasadena Civic 2 years ago.
Now I'm getting tired of thinking of questions these are the last.
What do you do on your spare time other that acting?
-I write short stories. I am an avid reader, so I am always reading books. I am a freak for Sudoku, so I play that a lot. I love going for walks and playing with our cat Nar.
Now it's time for me to go.
So what do you have to say to some of us fans around?
-Follow your heart and do what you love, and someday you will realize that you aren't working, you are playing for a living!
Well you have a nice day Tara.
-Thanks. Be well Jared. Those were fun questions.
Take care.
Tara :)
